I have been an artist since my teens with a passion for sketching and painting the
New Zealand landscape. I paint in a realist style with a passion for beautiful lighting, a skill learnt from years of photography and an understanding of depth of field when creating compositions.
I was trained and mentored by Ted Lewis one of New Zealand’s most respected World War Two artists who studied at the Royal College of art in London.
Living in New Zealand we are lucky to have some of the most extraordinary landscapes
in the world along with beautiful sunsets and dawn lighting which inspires my love of landscape painting. Recently I have also been developing my portfolio of artwork in portraiture, a category I greatly enjoy.
My career spans some 40 years of creative expression in the advertising industry starting work
as a commercial artist, an art director, and later a creative director working
for multinational and national advertising agencies.
Throughout my advertising career I continued painting in oils, acrylics and watercolours.
Now a full time artist I enjoy the freedom of creating and painting landscape compositions.
I find I learn something new with every painting and love experimenting in
different mediums and subject matter.

My process is to discuss in detail with you the subject required, composition together with the preferred medium to be painted in and size required. We can agree on a budget when we have all the information together.
